Ramlal Bhagat, a Class XII. student from Haryana,India has developed a 32-bit operating system demonstrated to be far Superior to any of the desktop operating systems in the market today. The program has been named "O-Yes". O-Yes provides operating system services on any Pentium-based personal computer (PC) and does not require MS-DOS as a base operating system. The operating system's capabilities were demonstrated in a student convention at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), New Delhi.

HCL Ltd. conducted benchmarks on the system and published results, which are partly reported here:

    • O-Yes is 34% faster than Microsoft's Windows 95 on similar hardware.
    • It is 29% faster than IBM's OS/2. O-Yes loads 54% quicker than Windows 95 or OS/2.
    • O-Yes has a customizable, user-friendly graphical User Interface (GUI), in which every program can be accessed with a maximum of two button clicks.
    • The operating system provides plug n play capability with numerous hardware devices.
    • It has a superior memory management function.
    • The operating system is compatible with Windows 95&WindowsNT 4.0.
    • HCL, Ltd. has offered an unknown amount to Ramlal Bhagat for purchasing the rights to the software.

Ramlal Bhagat, described as "quiet and philosophical" by his peers, was not available for comment. Suresh Reddy, spokesman for HCL Ltd.,said, "this is the operating system that the world has been waiting for". On HCL's move to purchase the rights to the software, he said, "We are here to ensure that Mr. Ramlal gets fair recognition and compensation for his innovation. HCL Ltd. can provide him a firm launch-pad to market software globally". Is this the beginning of the end of the Bill Gates' monopoly ????? :D

    Hain buddy,
sorry ,But i want to ask you one thing, are you still using Windows 95 and NT.
pls come to present, the most old OS to be commonly used is 98 which is itself 50 to 55 % faster and reliable then 95.
and now windows is so advance,no buddy in world could compete them except Macintosh.

thnaks and sorry if this reply hurt you

It is fairly unjust to compare a high school student's effort with a product of an organization which boasts of having the best programmers in the world, and has spent billions of dollars and decades to develop and market their product.

The article was an attempt to bring to light the genius of people like Ramlal who are unfortunately not brought to the limelight. And who knows ... might be tomorrow if a dozen of Ramlals team up .. they might give Windows a run for their money ....

And as for Windows ... the days when Windows was synonymous with OS is already a thing of the past.

    Amit Ray.

Microsoft's only factory asset is the human imagination. (Bill Gates) :D

    Hi all,
    just visit the link: http://www.ramlalbhagat.com/o-yes.html
The design of the site is like one I desinged in 10th grade for my curriculum. .
Muze HCL ne contact kyo nahi kiyaaaaaaaaaaaa???????
BTW, Ramlal says in his site that they were 12 guys working on so-called OS.
Other links on this website show you some funny ideas like adding shortcut to a folder to context menu or blablabla….
Let me guess what should have happend:
this ramlal guy has done some sort of course in VB6 and developed some basic porgs. And excited by this he and his frnds tried to develop a O-Yes, ye samazkar ki OS banana VB6 me programing itna easy hai..
Also he said that he stop working on this project 6 years b4. To HCL ke offer ka kya hua??
Guys….who r in support of this guy: Come down to earth. Its true that we Indians are doing gr8 in IT. But still how can we belive that a single person can develop an OS?? Why we are making a joke of ourseleves..?

    Hi amit,
    This is Ramlal here.
I've joined this forum only to reply to this offensive post.
I'll try clearing a few things up.

Point taken. Site now has a new look n feel. Feel free to visit and comment.

I've never claimed that it did.

Funny? I'm glad to amuse you. There are plenty of others who have found the ideas pretty useful.

For the record, the "funny" apps are not coded in VB but in AHK - a windows macro language. And even it were true, is it illegal for someone who has tried making an OS to ever use VB?

I love the eloquent way you put your insightful thoughts.
I also love the way you address VB.

Again, I've claimed no such thing.

You yourself mentioned that there were 12 people with me.

You seem to be the only person who thinks so.

Bottom line : The mail that you probably got is almost all untrue. However I did start work on an OS and worked on it for 2 years. Of course I dont have any "screenshots" to show - the project never reached that stage. I'm making some efforts to revive development; however have not made any progress so far.

All I'm asking for is to keep an open mind about it, and not brand me and my work as a joke.

PS Amit: You seem to have posted the same post at a number of places. You do seem determined to "expose" me.

    Good going Ramlal.
You shouldn't criticize someone that has made a operating system better that Microsoft, ok it was a bit late, but Microsoft has the man power and the money to be able to make things fast, and look were that got them...........

Though I must agree amitmohod on this one, the site is a bit bland.

Im sorry but this just doesn't fly with me.

    1. Microsoft will have a huge hold on the market FOR YEARS to come. If any of us see the a huge new OS in our time I will be shocked, unless its a google OS (wishes)

    2. 32 bit? c'mon man way of the past. Im sure if they made a 64 bit 95 computer it'd go twice as fast to. So its a waste of time to make a 32 bit OS.

    3. Its not so hard to make your own OS. my friend did it in like a week or two, sure it was crap. but he did it in one week lol.

NotE: I HAVE ENOUGH EVIDENCE THAT THE ABOW MESSAGE DID NOT COME FROM ANY GENUINE SOURCE

    My very very dear
    Ramlal
1st great to know people are trying to work on technology.
anyway i would like some things cleared about this whole thing.

i have been working with Os development for some 12 linux distros
and i clearly can guarantee you that , if you are going to make what all claim to be o-Yes it would just take about 98 years to complete provided you work 24 hour. or you may end up completing just a kernel. else you are going to need help of abt 20.

and am proud of you for clearly stating that the mail that was passed around may be a hoax and accepting that your product has not yet reached any near stage of its face they claim. ya maybe there claim for start up time would be true now as the os is empty.

but for the time being anyway i will have to bealive the whole thing a hoax
    ----------
dear friends i would be happy to guide , help or discuss
anything on technology with anyone who is interested in it

    for any details or help

    you may contact me
    anytime
    lordbux@gmail.com

** and if anyone need reasons why this whole mail thing is a hoax contact me

    last
    i am an indian
they sent this idiotic mail saying be proud to be an indian
actuly we should be ashamed for claiming this kind of hoax true

    see all
    take care

Microsoft will be here for years...and years...and years to come. I'll be shocked if I live to see the fall of the empire.

And macintosh doesn't offer Microsoft any competition. MS owns like what now? 35% of Mac? something like that. Only reason that Macs have boosted back into popular eye is cause MS has poured money into them.

Though I wouldn't mind if the rebellion (google) would over throw them....
Bad star wars reference I know. lol.
